Álvaro de Campos was one of Fernando Pessoa's various heteronyms, widely known by his powerful and wraithful writing style. Campos' works may be split in three phases: the decadentist phase, the futuristic phase and the decadent (sad) phase. He chose Marinetti and Whitman as masters, showing some similitarities with their works, mainly in the second phase: hymns like "Ode Triunfal" and "Ode Marítima" praise the power of the rising technology, the strength of the machines, the dark side of the industrial civilization, and an enigmatic love for the machines. The first phase (marked by the poem «Opiário» shared some of its pessimism with Pessoa's friend Mário de Sá-Carneiro, one of his co-workers in Orpheu magazine. In the last phase, Pessoa drops the mask, and reveals through Campos all the emptiness and nostalgy that grew during his last years of life. He lived in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, England for a time where he studied Ship Engineering (of which Pessoa wrote a poem about) and later, in 1922, he lived in Newcastle-on-Tyne (currently Newcastle upon Tyne).

Si le traitement médiatique de l'affaire Clearstream n'était pas si ridicule, il aurait quelque chose de scandaleux, et la presse aurait du mal à se défendre du soupçon de se payer la tête de ses lecteurs. Que nous apprennent, en effet, les confidential reports extraits de l'ordinateur du général Rondot, si ce n'est que Villepin et Gergorin ont délibérément balancé les fichiers truqués à Van Ruymbeeke, ce dont même un chimpanzé à moitié demeuré n'aurait jamais douté ? Et que nous apprennent-ils sur la seule question qui importe, à savoir l'origine de la manipulation, et le rôle exact joué par Imad Lahoud ?

L'affaire Clearstream n'a jamais été, publiquement, celle de la possible possession de comptes douteux par des hommes d'Etat (à cela, personne n'a jamais cru, ou ne s'est intéressé, plus qu'aux pseudo-comptes japonais de Chirac) ; mais immédiatement celle d'une dénonciation calomnieuse de Sarkozy, orchestrée par l'Elysée. Dans cette "seconde affaire Clearstream", Villepin est l'accusé. Or, tout indique qu'il a lui-même été manipulé : si Villepin avait été à l'origine de la falsification des fichiers, serait-il passé outre les recommandations du général Rondot, dont l'enquête lui annonçait ce qu'immanquablement découvrirait le juge Van Ruymbeeke ? Tout se passe comme si les manipulateurs avaient dès l'origine compté, chez Villepin et Gergorin, sur cette qualité qu'on nomme en espagnol la "nobleza" et qui désigne la tendance du taureau à foncer droit dans la cape, servie par de solides rancunes, et un goût bien français de la manigance que leur grande intelligence semble avoir développé jusqu'à la manie tout court.

Au lieu d'un clear stream, nous avons un indéfinissable marigot où se mêlent des intentions très diverses, et où à l'évidence tous les protagonistes ne disposent pas d'une conscience également claire de la situation ; il est donc plus que jamais nécessaire de se demander : cui prodest ?

Avec la lamentable révision constitutionnelle qui s'annonce, la France connaîtra bientôt un régime absolument unique parmi les grands pays du monde développé, puisqu'il sera à la fois présidentiel et centralisé. Chamfort rappelle, dans ses Remarques, avec quel naturel les historiens anglais de son siècle rangeaient ensemble la France et la Turquie parmi les Etats despotiques. Trois cents ans plus tard, à l'exception des protectorats du Kosovo et de la Bosnie-Herzégovine, l'Europe ne connaît toujours pas de pays qui aient plus besoin que ces deux-là de faire "encore un effort pour être républicains".

Toros au Puerto : deux oreilles pour le débutant Miguel Angel Sánchez

"Qui n'a pas vu de toros au Puerto ne sait pas ce qu'est un jour de toros". La phrase de Joselito fait beaucoup pour la gloire des arènes du Puerto de Santa María, parmi les plus grandes d'Espagne, et les secondes d'Andalousie pour le nombre et la qualité de leurs spectacles. Mais l'inverse n'est pas toujours vrai, et avoir vu des toros au Puerto ne suffit pas à être affranchi, comme l'a prouvé la décevante novillada de ce dimanche 8 juillet.

La faute aux toros, d'abord, "nobles mais de peu de race" selon le commentateur du Diario de Cádiz. Le deuxième, boiteux, sortit peu après la pique. Destabilisé, le tout jeune novillero Diego Lleonart transforma son poussif remplaçant en steak haché sous les huées du public ; visiblement mal à l'aise, il n'eut pas davantage de chance avec le cinquième et sembla se laisser gagner par la torpeur de son adversaire : il encaissa un deuxième silence. Son aîné, Eugenio Pérez, souffrit également de la faiblesse de son lot ; mais il obtint une oreille dans le second grâce à une bonne estocade.

Le héros du jour fut pourtant Miguel Angel Sánchez, de l'Ecole taurine de Jerez, qui à 23 ans donnait là sa première novillada avec picadors. Le troisième toro était le meilleur du jour et lui fournit l'occasion de briller ; sa mise à mort fut également la meilleure de l'après-midi, et il y laissa échapper un saut de joie sous les acclamations du public, qui réclama en vain pour lui une deuxième oreille après celle rapidement accordée par le président. Enthousiaste et généreux, d'ailleurs servi par d'admirables banderilleros, il reçut le dernier toro a porta gayola puis, dans le dernier tiers, multiplia les volte-faces sans vraiment parvenir à réveiller l'animal, et coupa sa deuxième oreille. On attend avec impatience de le voir prendre l'alternative !

La révolution par les scouts

Le dernier opuscule de Tiqqun ("Comité invisible", ôte ta moustache, on t'a reconnu), L'Insurrection qui vient, est remarquablement représentatif des défauts et des qualités de ce groupuscule d'intellectuels, constitué il y a une dizaine d'années autour de la pensée de Giorgio Agamben, et dissous quelque temps du fait, paraît-il, de quelques démêlés virils au sujet des attentats du 11 septembre 2001, et aussi d'histoires de filles sur fond d'abus de boissons fermentées.

La pensée de Tiqqun est, tout simplement, la plus rigoureuse et la plus convaincante qui se puisse déduire de celle des situationnistes avant mai 1968 ; de ceux-ci, elle partage d'ailleurs souvent le brio, la qualité d'expression et la solidité des références. Quarante ans après, on ne peut néanmoins s'empêcher de bâiller devant leur déterminisme, comme s'il était nécessaire pour condamner ce monde lamentable de savoir qu'il s'écroule, par un besoin de se serrer les coudes au feu de l'histoire, quitte à peindre gris sur gris. Il y a là quelque chose d'un peu scout, d'un peu hippie (jusqu'à parler de faire un "pas de côté", comme dans L'An 01 de Gébé et Doillon), qui pèse et qui fatigue. La seconde partie, qui traite des modalités d'une insurrection future, est la plus attrayante ; mais la profonde nullité stratégique qui s'y déploie, même secondée par une vraie intelligence tactique, donne l'impression que les auteurs jouent aux petits soldats.

De toute l'avant-garde actuelle, les gens de Tiqqun sont sans nul doute les plus intelligents, et les plus radicaux. La stérilité historique de leurs thèses est donc exemplaire de l'urgence de réinventer la pensée révolutionnaire.

Dans son remarquable essai La Haine de la démocratie, Jacques Rancière définit notre société comme un "Etat de droit oligarchique". La formule est impeccable, et me fait envisager avec une terreur croissante les cours d'instruction civique que j'aurai à donner à la rentrée. Elle contribue également à relativiser la portée des expériences démocratiques actuelles (comme le réseau Freemen), que n'habitent jamais que l'imagination de ceux qui y adhèrent.

Un mot en passant sur le concept d'oligarque. L'usage qu'en font les médias depuis quelques années tend à en restreindre la définition à : "dirigeant d'une holding héritière d'une grande entreprise d'Etat dans les pays de l'ex-bloc communiste". C'est bien commode. Ainsi Bernard Arnault et Alain Minc, par exemple, ne sont-il pas des oligarques, et n'ont-ils donc rien à voir avec Vladimir Poutine.

Hautepierre. 16000 habitants, aucun commerce excepté le centre commercial Auchan. Pas de rues : le plan est exclusivement adapté à la circulation automobile (merci, Le Corbusier). Au milieu de ça, une station de tram "Dante", sur laquelle personne n'a eu encore l'humour de tagger : " Voi ch'entrate, lasciate ogni speranza". J'ai beau ne posséder ni téléphone portable, ni télévision, ni ordinateur, ni voiture, je me sens drôlement privilégié de vivre ailleurs et de ne pas avoir à m'approvisionner dans cet immonde bazar où j'ai dû cet après-midi, pour la première fois depuis des années, mettre les pieds.

Christian Delacampagne est mort le 20 mai dernier. Pour quelques lignes injustes au sujet de Gobineau dans son Histoire du racisme, je l'avais hâtivement rangé au rayon des abrutis définitifs. Une chronique de Francis Marmande (toujours lui) a semé le doute en moi, et la lecture de Toute la terre m'appartient (éd. Arthaud) m'a fait prendre la mesure de mon erreur. Ce recueil de récits et considérations de voyage, écrit dans l'entre-chien-et-loup de la maladie et de la mort, est un modèle d'intelligence critique, de poésie dans le regard, de légéreté du style. En ouverture, quelques pages sur l'Espagne, où il est question de putes, de jurons ("¡ Me cago en la leche de la madre que te parió !"), de corrida, de jambon, de flamenco et du Rocío, disent assez le subtil savoir-vivre de l'auteur, que confirme le tableau effaré de l'Amérique sur lequel s'achève le livre. "Les voyous sont mes amis", écrit Delacampagne. Tous les philosophes ne peuvent malheureusement pas en dire autant.

Puisque nous en sommes à re-Marmande, un mot de son récit Rocío (éd. Verdier, 2003). "Sucio como él que vuelve del Rocío" ("sale comme celui qui revient du Rocío"), dit-on à Séville : le mot convient à son livre, lequel, en dépit de la distance temporelle et littéraire, est aussi brinquebalant, ivre et libre que le pèlerinage qu'il raconte. "Athée comme un réverbère", Marmande n'en rapporte pas moins une expérience d'ordre religieux, où la marche, la fatigue, l'alcool, le merdier de la route et l'épate du folklore agissent dans le sens d'une désorientation majeure, et d'une liberté totale. La qualité de l'ouvrage est peut-être d'ailleurs son principal inconvénient : après cinq pages, les fourmis s'emparent de nos jambes, et l'on ne prête plus qu'une attention distraite au texte, trop occupé à penser qu'une autre fois, oui, on fera le Rocío.

Une véritable victoire de la vraie démocratie qui marche

Nos institutions sont admirables. Surtout la présidence de la République. Elle est d'ailleurs tellement admirable qu'on en oublie un peu les autres. En tout cas, les Français s'en fichent pas mal. Avec une abstention record un mois après une participation record, voilà la seule leçon de ces élections législatives, au-delà même de leur absurde résultat. Ce n'est pas que les Français n'aiment pas la cohabitation, c'est qu'ils n'aiment pas la politique, finalement. Ils veulent seulement élire leur roi de temps en temps, et en changer quand il est devenu trop vieux, trop moche, et qu'ils en ont un peu honte. Pour une fois, tout ça n'est pas de la faute de Sarkozy, mais celle de Jospin et des 21 % d'électeurs (70 % multipliés par 30 % de participation, si je me souviens bien) qui ont approuvé le passage au quinquennat.

Une première conclusion, générale, s'impose : au sein du monde occidental, la France est désormais un pays politiquement arriéré. Son régime de plus en plus personnalisé et la faible représentativité du Parlement réveilleront bientôt les scies qu'y suscitait l'absolutisme au XVIIIe siècle.

Il faut bien constater que l'actuel modèle électoral est défaillant, et ne permet tout simplement pas à la démocratie de s'exercer. La réforme en est urgente : proportionnelle intégrale (comme dans la plupart des pays civilisés qui nous entourent), réforme du Sénat, décalage des échéances afin de permettre la sanction populaire du gouvernement. Pour cela, il ne faut naturellement rien attendre de l'UMP ni du PS, bénéficiaires naturels du modèle en vigueur : français, encore un effort si vous voulez être vraiment républicains.

Pour se faire une idée de la pensée bourgeoise, inutile de se fatiguer à lire Proust ou Musil ; une seule livraison du Monde suffit souvent à en apprécier les procédés fondamentaux : lieux communs et refus de conclure. La manifestation la moins effrontée n'en fut pas, en mars 2004, la pleine manchette de une accusant, avec l'alors président Aznar mais malheureusement contre toute vraisemblance, l'ETA d'avoir organisé les attentats de la gare d'Atocha. Ce week-end, une nouvelle salve nous est offerte. Tandis que Le Monde 2 expose pour la millième fois la version officielle de l'assassinat de Kennedy et les mécanismes paranoïaques à l'oeuvre chez ceux qui en doutent, l'édition d'aujourd'hui juxtapose innocemment deux informations importantes : d'une part, "les services secrets israéliens auraient manipulé le raid d'Entebbe", dans la plus vieille tradition de la provocation d'Etat, afin de dissiper le risque d'un rapprochement américano-palestinien ; de l'autre, selon le département de la justice américain, "un projet d'attentat visant l'aéroport de New York" aurait été "déjoué". Comprenne qui le peut.

L'avant-garde des années 70 se raconte. Après l'agréable mais quelque peu anodin Bardadrac de Genette, Jacques Henric fait à son tour paraître, sous le titre Politique, un essai autobiographique beaucoup plus conséquent où, évoquant son enfance dans l'ombre de la guerre, le PCF avec sa série de figures (au premier rang desquels Aragon), puis les aventures de Tel Quel et d'Art press, il obéit rigoureusement à l'exigence de la vérité de l'expérience. Cela le conduit parfois à surjouer son rôle de procureur intellectuel ; mais, dans l'amollissement général des consciences, ce terrorisme fait plaisir à lire. Notons aussi quelques passages picaresques, tels que le laissaient prévoir les hilarants extraits du journal de Henric parus dans le numéro 49/50 de L'Infini. On se souviendra longtemps de Maurice Roche ivre, racontant debout au milieu d'une salle de restaurant stupéfaite comment il a dû, dans la Résistance, exécuter sa petite amie d'une balle dans la tête ou, remédiant à la disette, goûter aux couilles d'un soldat boche abattu.

A force d'observer les vieux routiers publier les leurs dans la collection qu'il a créée (pour les nouilles, je précise qu'il s'agit de "Fiction et Cie", au Seuil), on se surprend à rêver aux improbables mémoires de Denis Roche. En attendant, en attendant, on relit Louve basse.

Tel Quel encore : on attend avec impatience la parution des mémoires de Philippe Sollers, annoncés fin octobre chez Plon sous le titre Un Vrai roman. Il s'agira peut-être là d'un document irremplaçable sur une des périodes les plus marquantes de la pensée moderne, par un de ses principaux acteurs et une de ses intelligences les plus vives. Mais comment se retenir de craindre que le semi-cadavre de l'auteur de Drame et de Paradis ne nous inflige plutôt le radotage gâteux auquel il nous a habitués depuis quatre ou cinq ans (Illuminations, Une vie divine, L'Evangile de Nietzsche, Le Saint-Âne, Dictionnaire amoureux de Venise, Fleurs...) ?

Une nouvelle dette s'ajoute à l'ardoise morale que je confesse envers Francis Marmande, écrivain, contrebassiste, dessinateur, aviateur et brillant aficionado : son article sur le dernier disque d'Abbey Lincoln, dans Le Monde, était une perle dont les conclusions ne souffraient aucune discussion. Abbey sings Abbey valait bien ce délicat dithyrambe : une semaine qu'il tourne en boucle sur ma platine, avec une prédilection marquée pour Throw It Away, And It's Supposed To Be Love et The Music Is The Magic.

L'on s'apprête à célébrer les quarante ans de la mort de John Coltrane, le plus grand musicien de son siècle, le plus grand fugueur de l'histoire avec Bach, et le seul artiste dont l'évocation suffise parfois à me mettre les larmes aux yeux. L'autre jour, en entendant le My favorite things de l'Olatunji Concert, lorsqu'au terme de l'interminable ouverture à la basse Coltrane survient pour chercher, toujours le même, l'accord qui ouvrira tout, j'ai justement pensé qu'il était des hommes pour lesquels la notion de mort était parfaitement, dérisoirement inappropriée.

Il y a bien des choses contestables dans Une Vieille maîtresse de Catherine Breillat, à commencer par la reconstitution historique qui fout le camp. L'ensemble demeure très remarquable : Asia Argento est plus proche de Carmen que de son rôle hystérique du Transylvania de Gatlif, et les scènes de sexe sont les plus belles et les plus réalistes, les plus belles car les plus réalistes, que j'aie vues au cinéma depuis Intimité de Chéreau.

Les possessions espagnoles au Sahara : une note

Pour les rares curieux que ce point pourrait intéresser, je synthétise ici différentes informations sur le statut administratif des possessions espagnoles au Sahara.

Ces possessions, dont les frontières furent définies par la Convention franco-espagnole de Madrid du 27 novembre 1912, étaient au nombre de quatre (du nord au sud) :
* le Territoire d'Ifni, cédé par le Maroc aux termes du traité de paix et d'amitié de Wad-Ras du 26 avril 1860, n'a été réellement occupé qu'à partir de 1934, sous le statut de colonie. De petite taille mais relativement peuplé autour de la ville de Sidi Ifni, il était enclavé dans le protectorat français.
* le Protectorat Sud (dit "Zone de Tarfaya" ou "Colonie du Cap Juby"), était situé entre le cours de l'oued Drâa et le parallèle 27°50. Il s'est modestement développé à partir de 1916, autour de la garnison de Villa Bens (aujourd'hui Tarfaya).
* la colonie de la Saguia el-Hamra, qui constitue le tiers nord de l'actuel Sahara-Occidental, s'étendait au sud de la zone de Tarfaya, jusqu'au 26e parallèle, à hauteur du cap Bojador. Cette région, réclamée par l'Espagne dès la Convention de Berlin de 1885, comprenait la ville indigène de Smara. Les Espagnols y fondèrent néanmoins une nouvelle capitale, El Aiaun (aujourd'hui Laâyoune).
* la colonie du Rio de Oro, à l'extrême-sud, occupée dès le XVIe siècle, fut recolonisée dès 1885, avec la fondation de sa capitale Villa Cisneros (aujourd'hui Dakhla).
La diversité des statuts (trois colonies et un protectorat) fut d'abord peu significative, la zone dite "Protectorat Sud" ne possédant que quelques milliers d'habitants sédentaires, et l'ensemble de ces territoires relevant également de la responsabilité du Haut-Commissaire du Protectorat espagnol à Tétouan. Plus généralement, il importe de considérer que, jusqu'aux années 1960, l'occupation de ces territoires est demeurée très précaire, se bornant à la surveillance de quelques bourgades portuaires, sans véritable administration d'une population encore largement nomade.

Le 20 juillet 1946, devant la montée de l'agitation nationaliste, le pouvoir colonial réorganisa ses possessions en les regroupant dans une Afrique Occidentale Espagnole (A.O.E.) dirigée par un Gouverneur général siégeant à Ifni et dépendant du Bureau du Maroc et des Colonies, sauf dans la zone de Tarfaya où il n'exerçait ses prérogatives que par délégation de l'autorité du Haut-Commissaire de Tétouan : ainsi le Protectorat Sud, de par cet artifice légal, se trouva-t-il seul exposé au risque imminent d'une indépendance du Maroc.
Après que celle-ci fut acquise pour la zone française et le "Protectorat Nord" espagnol, le régime chérifien attaqua le territoire d'Ifni en novembre 1957, puis les territoires sahariens espagnols. Les violents affrontements de la "Guerre d'Ifni" (que les Espagnols nomment souvent, à juste titre, la "Guerre oubliée") durèrent jusqu'en juin 1958 et aboutirent à l'occupation par l'armée marocaine de la majeure partie du territoire d'Ifni, et à la signature des accords d'Angra de Cintra, qui attribuaient au Maroc la zone de Tarfaya et reconnaissaient à l'Espagne ses colonies sahariennes.

Le 14 janvier 1958, les territoires demeurant sous autorité espagnole furent une nouvelle fois réorganisés sous la forme, inspirée du modèle colonial portugais, de deux provinces ultramarines, représentées aux Cortes franquistes par des procurateurs :
* le Territoire d'Ifni, désormais réduit aux alentours de son chef-lieu, demeura espagnol jusqu'à sa cession au Maroc le 30 juin 1969, sous la pression de la communauté internationale ;
* le Sahara espagnol, regroupant les deux anciennes colonies de la Saguia el-Hamra et du Rio de Oro, fut revendiqué simultanément par la Mauritanie, le Maroc, et les indépendantistes sahraouis du Front Polisario. Après plusieurs années de troubles, l'invasion marocaine et l'évacuation des civils espagnols, les Accords de Madrid du 14 novembre 1975 organisèrent le départ des troupes coloniales, qui fut totalement effectif le 26 février 1976.
Il est à noter que cette dernière époque de l'occupation espagnole du Sahara fut caractérisée par un développement accéléré et une sédentarisation de la population en concertation avec les autorités tribales.

(P.S. : une intéressante note infrapaginale de la préface de Smara de Michel Vieuchange, livre-culte qu'à ma grande stupeur je ne parviens pas à ne pas trouver très pénible, donne une idée "d'époque" de la réalité de la colonisation espagnole au Sahara. Seulement voilà, je n'ai pas le livre sur moi. La substance en est la suivante : en 1930, les Espagnols contrôlaient en tout et pour tout deux garnisons côtières : Villa Cisneros et Villa Bens ; à ceci près, la région était sous le contrôle de tribus nomades passablement belliqueuses, au défi desquels fut effectué le voyage de Vieuchange, qui n'échappa au massacre que pour succomber à la dysenterie.)

Radio-Désert

Vingt-quatre heures de la vie d'un homme en vacances ne laissent évidemment pas un instant pour un exercice aussi vain et pénible que la tenue d'un blog. Le compte-rendu en sera également succinct : le désert a bien des mérites mais, par définition, il y a peu à en dire. La bourgade marocaine de Sidi Ifni, où j'ai passé huit jours délicieux, ne s'est pas illustrée dans l'actualité internationale depuis sa restitution par l'Espagne en 1969. Depuis lors, elle végète sur une branche secondaire de la route du Sahara occidental, accueille bon an mal an quelques centaines de touristes qui, depuis que le port s'ensable et que la piste de l'aérogare est abandonnée à l'action prédatrice du chiendent, ne s'y rendent pas sans une certaine opiniâtreté.

Vingt ou trente mille personnes y vivent, dans un calme presque excessif, des journées seulement animées par le flux et le reflux des marées. L'océan ronge en grondant les falaises rouges sur lesquelles est bâtie la ville, et laisse à leurs pieds d'immenses plages de sable blond, où l'on paresse ou joue au football. De l'avis général, Sidi Ifni donne l'idée d'une existence entièrement faite de vacances nonchalantes.

Mes entretiens décousus avec des représentants de la jeunesse locale m'ont néanmoins révélé une lassitude de leur condition non moindre que leurs compatriotes des grandes villes du Nord. Ici comme à Tanger, l'on rêve de l'Espagne proche, en l'occurrence des îles Canaries que, dit-on, l'on aperçoit parfois au loin depuis le cap Juby. De temps à autre, les minuscules bateaux de pêche qui fournissent aux environs le meilleur poulpe que j'aie jamais mangé, s'emplissent de désespérés ou d'audacieux et se lancent pour une traversée de 36 heures qui coûte à chacun 5000 dirhams (450 euros). J'ai eu la satisfaction de m'entendre confirmer que, la plupart du temps, ils parviennent à bon port.

Les émigrants de l'ex-territoire d'Ifni ne se trouvent rien à voir avec les milliers de Noirs subsahariens qui se rendent chaque année au Maroc dans le même but. En effet, la situation particulière de la ville, enclavée dans le protectorat français mais "capitale" de l'Afrique Occidentale Espagnole après 1946, avait induit le pouvoir colonial à conférer la nationalité espagnole à tous ses habitants, y compris indigènes. Cette réalité n'empêche naturellement pas les consulats espagnols au Maroc de dédaigner les requêtes déposées par leurs descendants afin qu'on reconnaisse leurs droits. L'Espagne ne se soucie pas de dépeupler Ifni. Elle a cependant la décence de prendre en considération les exigences légitimes de ceux qui, parvenus sur son territoire dans les conditions qu'on sait, peuvent produire l'extrait d'acte de naissance d'un de leurs ascendants. Ces formalités, qui prennent deux mois, sont réglées par un bureau situé à Badajoz : ce détail confère à la capitale de l'Estrémadure une popularité dans Sidi Ifni qui m'a d'abord étonné, de même que celle des mots "extrait d'acte de naissance".

L'on éprouve un sentiment de juste revanche à comprendre ainsi que, de tous ceux qui s'entassent sur les cayucos et les pateras, ceux d'Ifni au moins sont rétribués de leur peine, non par la condition lamentable qui est celle des immigrés clandestins, mais par une naturalisation immédiate (que l'on songerait difficilement, je le concède, à octroyer à tous ceux qui la voudraient).

Pour finir, et bien qu'ils n'aient pas besoin de ma recommandation mais parce que les vrais mérites doivent être salués : Midhou et Malika ont fait de leur hôtel "Suerte Loca" un endroit où il fait très bon vivre, et j'en connais peu qui le valent au Maroc. Il est vrai que le nom de leur établissement ("la Chance folle") laissait prévoir cette excellence.

A l'heure de me rallier au naissant MoDem (et bien que, pour l'ennemi juré de l'informatique que je suis, ce nom soit encore plus dissuasif que PD), j'entrevois la nécessité d'expliquer comment un ultra-gauchiste peut devenir centriste sans obéir pour autant au paradigme de la modération par l'âge.
Lorsque l'on n'est frappé ni d'esprit de chapelle ni de psittacisme, il n'y a que deux attitudes intellectuellement satisfaisantes.

Soit l'on développe un système original de pensée et de valeurs et l'on s'échine à y plier la réalité ; l'on devient alors extrémiste de gauche ou de droite. Hors des rares épisodes révolutionnaires de l'histoire, dont aucun n'est jamais advenu par volontarisme militant, c'est au mieux dangereux, et au pire absolument inutile.
Soit, à l'inverse, l'on se fonde sur la réalité et l'on tâche, avec lucidité et pragmatisme, d'en favoriser le fonctionnement harmonieux, usant de solutions singulières face à des situations singulières.
Ces deux possibilités, que tout semble opposer, ont néanmoins ceci de commun qu'elles autorisent à considérer les choses avec lucidité, et à dire la vérité sans s'embarrasser des lieux communs de droite ou de gauche.

En termes de cuisine politique, ce centrisme diffère de la droite par son manque de fascination pour l'argent ; et de la gauche, par son peu de goût des grands mots. C'est la position sceptique par excellence, celle que l'effroi des espaces infinis n'empêche pas de marcher.
